CAPITAL MARKET UNION AND THE PAN-EUROPEAN PERSONAL PENSION PRODUCT (PEPP)

PENSION ADEQUACY, MARKET STRUCTURE, AND ECONOMIC IMPLICATIONS

On behalf of the organizing committee, I am pleased to announce a special issue conference entitled Capital Market Union (CMU) and Pan-European Private Pension Product (PEPP), which will take place on 4th Sep. – 6th Sep, 2023 at beautiful Istanbul. This event aims to bring together researchers, academics, and professionals from the finance industry to share their latest research and insights on the Capital Market Union and Pan-European Private Pension (PEPP) initiatives.

The CMU is a crucial initiative by the EU to create a single market for capital across Europe, aiming to develop deeper and more integrated capital markets by promoting market-based financing. The PEPP initiative is a complement to the CMU, aiming to promote pension savings among European citizens and secure future pension adequacy by investing in long-term assets through the CMU. These initiatives are projected to add EUR 700 billion to the market by 2030, improving pension savings and the efficiency of the CMU, and changing the financial landscape in Europe.

The conference will contribute to a better understanding of the potential benefits and challenges of CMU and PEPP and their role in building a stronger financial future for Europe. The conference will also provide a platform for policymakers, financial experts, academics, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration. The conference’s outcome will be a set of recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders on the way forward for CMU and PEPP in Europe.

Participants will find opportunities for presenting new research, exchanging information, and discussing current issues during open scientific sessions and during conference informal events. All theoretical or empirical papers are highly encouraged, and we welcome scholars, researchers, and practitioners to present their findings. We also offer a unique publication opportunity in the renowned Risks journal (Q1), who provides a platform of a special issue, to publish selected papers from the event.

The conference will be held as a hybrid event, offering participants the option to attend sessions and present their papers either in person (face-to-face), or online via Zoom platform. Certificate of presentation will be issued to participants presenting their research, and Certificate of chairing a session will be issued to session chairs. Best Paper Award will be conferred by the Program Committee to the author(s) of the best paper presented at the conference. Abstract submission for the conference is now open, and the deadline for abstract submission is 31 July 2023.

We hope to see you in beautiful Istanbul!
